Man City youngster Liam Delap joins Stoke on loan

Manchester City youngster Liam Delap has joined Championship side Stoke City on loan for the duration of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene with a goal on his senior debut for City in an EFL Cup tie two years ago and has gone on to make five further first-team appearances.

Delap was part of City s squad for last weekend s 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, but Pep Guardiola confirmed after the game that the teenage striker would soon go out on loan.

The Premier League champions announced on Thursday that Delap has followed in father Rory s steps by joining Stoke, who saw off competition from a number of other clubs.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a Hollywood entrance to life in MLS with two goals in a 19-minute cameo as LA Galaxy came from three goals down to beat Los Angeles FC 4-3 in an enthralling contest.

Watford appoint Garcia

Watford have confirmed they have won the race to secure the services of head coach Oscar Garcia.

Garcia – formerly of Brighton and Hove Albion and Maccabi Haifa – will replace Beppe Sannino in charge at Vicarage Road.

Sannino resigned on Sunday after just eight-and-a-half months at Watford.

Garcia was said to be a target for Leeds United, who are also seeking a new head coach despite the season still being in its first month.

But Watford said they had beaten several high-profile English clubs to capture Garcia.

Villarreal sign Pantic from Red Star

Villarreal have confirmed the signing of defender Aleksandar Pantic from Red Star Belgrade for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the Spanish club, after bringing his one-year stay with Red Star to an end.

Pantic began his career with FK Rad, making his full debut for the Serbian Superliga outfit in May 2011 at the age of 19.

After impressing in his first full season as a first-team fixture at the King Petar I Stadium, he secured a move across Belgrade to Red Star.

He subsequently made 13 appearances under Robert Prosinecki in the 2012-13 campaign as Red Star finished second in the Serbian top flight.

Lyon want to sign Real Madrid s Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy to replace Karim Benzema who has agreed to join the Spanish giants, sports daily Marca reported on Thursday.

Lyon was initially interested in another Dutch striker, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who has sparked interest from AC Milan, but he refused to join the French side, the newspaper reported.
